Archaeological Sites
The dig was discovered during the construction work on the now largest highway in Macedonia. The disposition of land from the Vardarski hill uncovered the ruins of an ancient city believed to be dating as back as 13 century B.C. which flourished until the arrival of the Romans when it was transformed into an ancient Macedonian city. It is believed that the city's name is Gortynia.
Vardarski Rid is set to receive a makeover to transform it into an archeological site with trails and guides that will welcome the guests and tell the story of the city as it once was.
