Macedonia
Churches, Monasteries and Mosques
Many buildings and places make Gevgelija a beautiful town with rich history, culture and splendid nature. One of those buildings is the Monastery of the Holy Saviour which welcomes all Christian believers who are looking for tranquility and rest.
It is believed that the church was built in 1842 which make it the oldest one in the town. Until 1912 it was reconstructed several times but the charming architectural style and design are still preserved. The church has specific flat and wooden ceiling which stands over four square columns and has beautiful iconostasis. The iconostasis is relatively new and it has three layers of icons, all beautifully designed and colourful.
Next to the church there is a beautiful inn built in order to provide overnight staying for all believers and visitors. The Monastery of the Holy Saviour in Gevgelija provides peace for everyone who decides to visit this sacred place.
