One of these beautiful churches is the Cave Church of St. Stefan which is located in the settlement St. Stefan near the village of Shipokno. The church was built during the 14th century using a natural cave. It has semi-circular ceiling and it was made of stone but today the church is restored and it got special rooms for overnight staying. Interesting is the fact that the first frescoes the church received during the 15th century. Those are beautiful icons and frescoes painted in vivid colours by skilled local artists.
Besides the splendid architectural style, its perfect location and the tranquility it provides the Cave Church of St. Stefan is visited by both tourists and locals during the whole year.
